National Power Generation & Fuel Mix

Real-time generation breakdowns across major fuel types including wind, solar, nuclear, gas, hydro, biomass, and coal. Telemetry represents instantaneous gross or net generation published by grid balancing mechanisms and transmission system operators.

Update Cadence & Licensing: Client applications poll every 60 seconds against backend proxy caches (typical TTL cache of 5 to 15 minutes depending on upstream publishing cycles). Data is accessed as open transparency and public sector telemetry under the respective national and European open data regulatory frameworks and licences.

Cross-Border Interconnector Flows

Scheduled and physical cross-border power flows indicating directional electricity exchanges between adjacent electrical bidding zones. Net import and export positions are computed to reflect power balance between interconnected national grids.

Update Cadence & Licensing: Real-time interconnector telemetry is updated every 15 to 60 minutes in line with TSO physical flow publications. Access is governed under EU Regulation 543/2013 and national open transparency mandates.

Installed Capacities, Population & Area Baselines

Installed nameplate generation capacity by technology type, geographic land surface area, and population estimates. These reference baselines enable normalisation across different-sized nations, generating relative metrics such as generation density (MW/km²) and per-capita power output (W/capita).

Data Latency & Reporting Delays

Upstream data providers publish measurements on differing settlement and telemetry schedules. Electricity generation feeds operate on various settlement periods, with some countries having a reporting delay of up to several hours. Environmental readings have a wide range of reporting delays. As a result, displayed data reflects the most recently published snapshot rather than zero-latency real-time transmission. Care is taken to indicate the time and date of information publication where possible.

Sensor Outages, Gaps & Fallback Strategy

Physical monitoring equipment and data providers occasionally encounter scheduled maintenance, communications dropouts, or power failures. Our backend architecture uses time-to-live (TTL) caching and fallback mechanisms:

  • Cached Snapshots: If an upstream API experiences a temporary timeout, the backend serves the last-known valid payload for up to a defined grace period.
  • Status Indicators: When an endpoint remains unreachable beyond acceptable thresholds, visual indicators on the interface shift from green (Connected) to amber (Warning) or red (Offline).
  • Data Integrity Checks: Anomalous readings that breach physical maximums or contain unparsed values are discarded to avoid distorting map scales and aggregations.
