Earth Atlas Live is an independent project by a software engineer with an interest in electricity generation, the transition to renewables, and all things environment. That is, me.
The Power Generation Map page shows live updates of electricity generation by fuel type (Wind, Solar, Hydro, Geothermal, Nuclear, Biomass, Gas, Coal, and Oil) by country. If you click on a country a sidebar will appear with widgets for things like a 24-hour generation chart and a 24-hour electricity import/export history for that country. Currently I am making my way through Europe, adding countries all the time, and the goal is to eventually map the entire world, where live data is possible to obtain.
I am also currently working on an Environment Map, which will show things like river levels, rainfall, air quality, and other environmental markers where such data exists.
I pull and consolodate data from trusted sources, and spend a lot of time and effort attempting to make the data as accurate and up-to-date as possible. For a deeper dive into where the data comes from, methodology, limitations, and terms of use, head over to Data Sources & Methodology.
This is a passion project that I work on in my spare time, so if you are enjoying this site, I would be very grateful if you could head over to the Support page to see how you can help me improve this site and bring the information it carries to more people.
Thank you so much for visiting Earth Atlas Live!
